about

By the fall of 2006, the M7 Movement had established itself as a force to be reckoned with in underground Texas hip hop. It had been nearly a year since the release of Dangerous Liaisons: A Mind & A Mic, leaving an ever increasing audience thirsting for new material as M7 artists continued to wreck stages week after week in venues up and down the I-35 corridor. Having been tapped by D-Wattz months earlier to enter the on-deck circle, 2mental knew that the invitation to record his debut offering provided a massive opportunity but also brought with it a tremendous amount of pressure to deliver M7's fourth monster record in a row. On October 20, 2006, an exuberant crowd assembled at The Underground Spark for 2mental's album release party anticipating a killer performance by M7's youngest artist. As 2mental prepared to deliver his headlining set of new material, disaster struck as equipment failure prevented him from taking the stage on the biggest night of his career. Was this an omen of troubles on the horizon for the M7 Movement?

In actuality, the adversity seemed to signify that Destroy & Rebuild was aptly named. Despite the crushing setback at the album release party, 2mental had masterfully woven together a 15 track glimpse into the soul of an artist which plays like an epic poem with a soundtrack. With violent ferocity, 2mental seizes his opportunity by tearing down the barriers that guard his deepest insecurities from his listener and then allowing his audience to ride alongside him as he creates beauty out of chaos. With the great D-Wattz once again serving as Executive Producer, Destroy & Rebuild proved to be a powerhouse that kept M7's streak of monster records alive and well. After pressing play on the first track and listening to the M7 Movement destroy the intro, there is no doubt that fans of underground hip hop will enjoy being a part of 2mental's efforts to rebuild.
